Hey girl – yes, I am talking to you…. Put that phone down..and listen to me for a second.
Do you often find yourself answering text messages and phone calls, trying to figure out the answers to something and you find yourself down the Google black hole for hours on end, or are you being bombarded with notifications?
Then you look at the clock and a few hours have gone by and you feel like you haven’t accomplished much from your to-do list? You may find yourself overwhelmed and stressed that you didn’t finish everything that you wanted too. Then you are beating yourself up. Girl, you gotta stop that right now. It happens to the best of us.
But today, I wanted to share with you 5 Work From Home Productivity Hacks that will help you be the most productive to get items from your to-do list done.
- Only check your emails two times a day
This is huge, ladies! You want to check your emails only twice a day especially if you communicate with your team and clients via email. You can check it once in the morning and once in the evening before you sign off for the day. This will help you avoid responding to emails for hours on end and you don’t end up doing anything. And by checking it once in the morning and evening, you will be able to see all the emails that came in throughout the day.
- Limited Phone Usage
This tip is IMPORTANT! How often do you find yourself texting back and forth with your spouse, family members, and friends throughout the day, or does your mom call you to chat? Don’t get me wrong, maintaining and nourishing personal relationships are important but talk to them when you are done with your tasks at hand. Put your phone on don’t disturb mode, put your phone in a drawer or in the other room so you aren’t tempted to go on it. Another thing that you can do is let your inner circle know that you aren’t able to get in touch during business hours and will respond afterward. Unless there is an emergency then you can create a special signal for that.
- Create and Stick with a Morning Routine
Create and stick to a morning route that works best for you. If this means, you wake up at 5 am, go for a run, journal, read, listen to uplifting music or podcasts, and have a green smoothie or a cup of coffee. Then do it, girl! This will help you get your creative juices going, get some energy out, and help you start your day in a good headspace. You will notice a difference in how your day goes and will be in a better mood.

- Turn Off Unnecessary Notifications
Do you get notifications from social media, Slack, and other things? Turn off unnecessary notifications so they stop showing up on your desktop. This will lower the urge to go check out what’s happening. It will have you from going down the social media dark hole. Lessen your FOMO radar.
- Time Block
Now hear me out with this one. Time blocking is super important as you want to be intentional with how you utilize your time. Pull out your Google Calendar, Acuity Calendar, or whatever calendar app you use and sit down and map out your day from everything when you wake up, eat, have work time, and go to sleep. This will help you see where you are spending time and you can pencil in whatever appointments are important to you. Also, these schedules aren’t set in stone, so make adjustments as you need too.
If you implement one or all of these tips, you will notice that your productivity level will go up and up.
