You’ve done all the groundwork – you’ve found where your ideal customer hangs out on social media, you’ve created your social media profiles, created a social media strategy and now you’re posting content.
And maybe now that your content is out on social media you aren’t getting any engagement (likes, comments, shares), your following isn’t growing or you aren’t getting any sales.
You are missing an important piece to the puzzle and that’s promoting your social media channels.
Promoting and getting the word out that your business is now on social media is essential to your social media marketing efforts.
Don’t rely just on social channels to get followers – you can promote your profiles in many other marketing channels.
I am going to share with you some creative ways that you can promote your social media channels to your network.
Email Marketing Campaigns
I know that you are sending out emails to your lists so why not include links to your social media channels in the footer of ALL your email marketing campaigns. This is a simple and easy way to get the word out. Make sure in your email template that the footer includes social media links and you can add a short sentence on top to entice them to follow you.
Include links to all your social media channels in your email signature under all your details. You can do this by creating an email signature on Canva with clickable social media buttons. You can even say check out our latest post and then include social media buttons.
I personally love using Flodesk for my email marketing. The emails I deliver to my audience are deeply curated and thoroughly thought out so that we are always providing value, education, and entertainment. Having a beautiful email newsletter was important to me.
Use Instagram or Facebook Stories
After you publish a post on Instagram or Facebook, why not create a story about it. You can use an emoji to cover your post and add a short caption saying, “Check out my new post” or say something related to what your post is about. Most people may miss it in the feed, so this is a great way to capture their attention on the same platform and good thing it lasts 24 hours so it will add some shelf life to your feed post.
Tag Team Members in Your Posts
You can always tag your team members to your social media posts if it is relevant. This will help expand the reach of your post. Meaning your post will get exposed to their network, therefore, more eyeballs on posts and potentially gaining you a few new followers. You also want to encourage your team members to share your posts regularly.
Tag Partners/Influencers in Your Posts
Campaigns that include partners or influencers, then you want to tag them and vice versa. You can also email them and let them know the post is live and share the link with them. They may have a bigger social media following then you do and it will introduce you to a whole new audience again helping you to gain new followers for your social media platforms.
Add Call to Action Buttons to Your Posts
Create posts in such a way that your CTA button can be easily seen, enticing readers to take action. It could be as simple as “Learn More,” which then takes the reader to your blog post or landing page, or a more bold CTA could be “Subscribe Now”. These are simple ways to promote your business and social media platforms.
Use Industry-Specific Hashtags
Use industry-specific hashtags in your posts because it is a great secret way to promote them. People will be able to find you with these hashtags. Hello, brand exposure! For example, if your business is part of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industry. You can use different hashtags like #travel and location-specific hashtags, like #”country” (#spain, for instance), #”city”, #”airport”, etc. Find and use hashtags that are relevant to your industry and include as many hashtags as you can per platform. Remember that’s 2-3 hashtags per post on Twitter and LinkedIn and up to 30 hashtags on Instagram.
Add Your Social Media Profiles to Your Website
Don’t forget to include links to your social media profiles in the footer and header of your website! It’s a simple way for people to know that you are on social media especially if it is their first time interacting with your business.
Create a Social Page for Your Instagram Account
Create a social page for your Instagram profile. You can add specific campaign links that can be on any social media platform. You can include non-social media links there too. This is a great way to show these followers that you can be found on other platforms too. Because remember, on Instagram you only have space for ONE URL. May as well use that URL to direct people exactly where you want them to!
Don’t forget that after you publish something on social media the next step is to promote, promote, promote your post. This will help drive traffic and engagement to your posts.
